How your jump diagnosis is built
BounceLab combines a deterministic sport-science rules engine with AI-written explanations. The numbers — your scores, weaknesses and risk flags — come from rules and published norms. The AI turns those numbers into readable analysis and training plans, and it is constrained by your injury boundaries at every step.
1. What is measured
Your answers are mapped onto ability dimensions. Each dimension is scored 0–100 and weighted into the overall readiness score, with jump-specific qualities weighted most heavily. The percentages below are the applied weights for the Standard and Advanced questionnaires after renormalizing over the dimensions that are actually collected:

Psychology is deliberately excluded from the overall readiness score and is reported separately as adherence risk. Training resources (availability) are planning constraints, not ability scores. Energy systems, body proportions and lifestyle are not currently collected by the questionnaires, so they don't contribute to your score. The Basic questionnaire renormalizes over its own, smaller set of dimensions.
Your report also labels each dimension by data quality: Measured (real test numbers), Self-test (simple field tests) or Self-rated (subjective ratings). Objective numbers always carry more weight in your training decisions.
2. How scores are computed
- Per-question scoring. Every answer is scored against sport-science reference values (for example, CMJ norms per sex and age band, squat-strength-to-bodyweight ratios, contact-time standards).
- Version ceilings. The three questionnaires share one scoring system, calibrated per version so a Basic answer set and a full Advanced test set land on the same 0–100 scale.
- Weighted overall score. Dimension scores are combined with the weights above into your overall readiness score and your priority weaknesses.
3. The strength-adjusted jump index
When you provide a squat 1RM and a CMJ result, BounceLab compares your actual jump with the jump height expected from your relative strength (theoretical CMJ ≈ 18 + 18 × squat-to-bodyweight ratio, a coaching heuristic). The gap classifies you into three useful buckets:
- Strength deficit — you jump better than your strength predicts: build more strength to keep raising the ceiling.
- Balanced — strength and jump track each other: progress both together.
- Strength surplus — strength is there but the jump lags: prioritize rate-of-force development, plyometrics and technique.
An honest caveat
4. Safety rules come first
Injury history, current pain and landing risk are scored by rule sets before any training advice is produced. Those boundaries are then injected into every AI generation as hard constraints, and the finished plan is scanned again — movements that conflict with your restrictions are flagged and replaced with safe alternatives. Persistent pain, post-surgery or acute injury always means: see a professional first.
5. What the AI does — and doesn't do
The AI reads your rule-engine results and writes the analysis, weekly structure and exercise choices in plain language. It does not invent your scores or your risk flags. Your results depend on the accuracy of what you enter — self-reported numbers are only as good as the tests behind them, which is why re-testing under consistent conditions matters.

7. Key concepts this system measures
BounceLab is built around a small set of sport-science entities. Each is measured or referenced in the assessment and links to its canonical page in this knowledge base:
- Countermovement Jump (CMJ) — the standard jump height used by the readiness score.
- Reactive Strength Index (RSI) — jump height divided by ground contact time.
- Rate of Force Development (RFD) — how quickly force rises at the start of a jump.
- Force-Velocity Profile (F-V Profile) — separates strength deficit from velocity deficit.
- Stretch-Shortening Cycle (SSC) and plyometrics — the mechanism behind reactive power.
